Dear all
Just wanted to bring attention to the ddclient plugin which seems not to be working perfectly on the recent releases
Normally it should show up that it has picked up the current wan IP and did update successfully
But I've used it on easydns and it seems to be working not while pressing apply button but when the whole system is restarted.
And it doesn't show up IP in green.
I think it needs further checking on the latest release.
I've tested it on easydns and I can't see it working properly.
I will try other providers and see.

Hi,

I using No-IP and setup was not straight forward as 1-2-3. It works now. I checked within my No-IP dashboard, and it is indeed updating.

But OPNsense dynamic DNS account tab is not telling anything, no current IP displayed and no last update time either.... daemon is updating/checking every 15 minutes.

Regards,

I am using cloudflare and also have the same problem. IP is updated but not displayed. I think this is causing cloudflare to be spammed every 300 seconds (my update interval). In the log file I see it is updating the IP every 300 seconds because it thinks it did not update.

The Dashboard widget is for the old ddns plugin, which will be deprecated with 22.7, according to the banner you see in the widget. The new (hopefully staying) ddns plugin has no dashboard plugin (yet?), but only the log (set to "notice", otherwise you will see nothing, as the default is "warning").
kind regards

Yup using Cloudflare doesn't show IP in the Services Pane, but it does work.  Logs show it's updating and the IP address in the logs is correct!

OPNsense 24.7.7 running on:
Dell Optiplex 3050
Intel I5-7600 @ 3.5Ghz (4 Cores)
Intel I350-T4 Nic
8G DDR4
256G SSD

Can someone fix this issue pls?

Please see the "Note" under General settings:
https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/dynamic_dns.html

You need to swap the backend to "native" as ddclient is being deprecated.

After updating to 23.7.4 I was seeing the updated IP in the UI but the ddclient backend continued to think there was an update needed despite successfully parsing the update response as successful.

That said, switching to the native backend fixed the problem and I didn't have to change any other settings.  My only complaint is that I no longer see the actual request and response, even with verbose logging enabled.

I actually see the execution in my Dynamic DNS logfiles. It executing, finding the zone and record IDs and setting the record.

Interesting.  All I get are executing, setting, and not modified notices.  Previously it would log the req and resp.

What service and settings are you using?

Using Cloudflare as a service, I believe I'm using the googledomains for the IP lookup and standard settings.  After this thread I did turn on verbose but I didn't see any material difference in the logs.
