Reported CPU temp at command line differs from temps reported in Dashboard

Hi there,
I've just recently from DD-WRT on a router to OPNSense installed on a fanless mini PC (a Jetway HBFBZ10
https://www.jetwayipc.com/products/hbfbz10-series/
). The installation of OPNSense and migration to the new firewall mostly went off without a hitch, but I've run into a weird problem and I'm hoping someone here can help me figure this out. For context I should say that I'm new to both OPNSense and FreeBSD (though I do have a Linux server and Linux desktop), so it could be that I'm just being stupid about something.
When I logged into the dashboard I noticed that CPU temps were being reported as 60c-61c with almost no CPU activity. After doing some digging I discovered that by default OPNSense sets the lowest C state to C1, so I logged in via SSH and temporarily set all of my CPUs to C3 and checked CPU temps at the command line and saw that CPU temps were around 46c-47c. I thought that was an awfully large change in temperatures, so I went back to the Dashboard to double-check, and the Dashboard is now reporting 55c-56c consistently. From the command line I can repeatedly run sysctl dev.cpu.0 over and over again and not see a 55c temperature (in the time I've watched it I've seen it momentarily jump as high as 54c, but mostly it just hangs out at 46-47). This is true for each of my cpus (cpu0, 1, 2, and 3).
I know the Dashboard refreshes infrequently, but I'd expect it to report no higher than 54 and fluctuate mostly between 46 and 47. Instead it fluctuates between 55 and 56 and occasionally jumps as high as 60. Is there anything you can think of that explains the discrepancy between what the Dashboard is reporting and what gets reported at the command line? I'm only trying to track this down to determine if there's something wrong with the new hardware I purchased: a consistent 55-56c with low load would concern me a bit, whereas 46c doesn't seem like much of an issue.
Any help would be very much appreciated!
