Problem with my new setup

Hello,
I am currently in the process of setting up an old firewall to use with Opnsense. I boot via USB and install to my ssd via Console. Everything checks out so far and looks format and write to the selected drive with no problems. As soon as it gets to the part to remove the USB drive and reboot it won't boot from my SSD.
I've re-installed several times and ran into the same problem. It continues a boot loop until I insert the USB drive I used, then it will bring up the installation option again.
Is it for some reason installing to the USB key instead of the SSD? Thats the only thing I can think of right now but see no reason it shouldn't work, as there are no errors when writing/formatting to the SSD.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

When you get to point where you need to select the drive how many drives are available? Since you have an ssd and usb drive connected you should have 2 drives to chose from, either sd0 or sd1. Also after installing OPNsense does the boot loop show that it's starting to boot FreeBSD? What does the boot loop show? Also how about your bios? Does it show 2 drives you can select a boot order from?

When installing it shows the SSD, which I select to install to. It says its successful, but when I remove the USB device and reboot it won't boot to the SSD. After that I insert the USB device, and it goes to the installation wizard part again. So I exit that menu and it goes to opnsense after that, where I can configure everything(Ip's, vlans etc). From there I can't tell if its actually using the SSD install or if it is installed on the USB device.

Ignore my original response. That was more geared towards OpenBSD.
At this point I would suggest you go into your motherboard bios and see if the SSD is detected and if it is set to boot from. Make sure the USB drive isn't plugged in when you go into the bios. Would be interesting to know what your bios settings show.

The problem I have is I am using an old WSA(Web Security Appliance aka Firewall). So i'm not too sure how to even get into Bios.
The part that confuses me is during installation I actually select my SSD as the install location, create the partition manually so I know it is selecting the correct disk, run the install and after it reboots it will only load the installation from the USB(which is running the Live version I imagine)
I have attached an image to show the Disk in the lobby, and this isn't my SSD, so not sure where that install is located(It is only 650MB, my USB drive is 32GB)
Going to try and install to a different disk tomorrow and see what happens.
