Just installed Opnsense and confused
«

Hi I just installed Opnsense on my blade. Did it just delete my Linux install? I did the configuration wizard through the web gui, and the firewall boots up on my blade. How do I get to my OS? Is it gone?
Thanks
Pete

If you installed OPNsense on any piece of hardware, whatever was installed prior to that is overwritten.
OPNsense is an appliance, operating system and everything, not a piece of add-on software. It is not even Linux.

As you know there are three rules of system administration: backup, backup, backup.
Linux is very easy to backup and restore since a compressed tar is enough for the system partition. Or use clonezilla.

If you boot from "install media" you end up in a live system of OPNsense, nothing installed at that time. But if you log in as user "installer" it is quite obvious that you are going to install the system and if you then choose to install to your (only?) SSD/HDD then the info on this drive will be lost (as you confirm during installation process of OPNsense).
I don't see anything wierd here. Maybe except for this thread... :-)

Yup, your system got replaced by a custom FreeBSD 13 system, which works as a firewall.
