Network Port Link State Change and Unbound restart Configuration Problems

Hello

i have a PC Engines APU4D4 and OPNsense 21.7.5 installed
i use all 4 network ports for my network and have unbound blocklists activated.
ubound runs as a local dns server and all dns requests should go to unbound.

now i have the problem, when the link state changes on any of the 4 network interfaces, unbound restarts.
and on this APU4D4 system, this restart of the unbound service takes a long time, when i use unbound blocklists.
sometimes unbound does not come up again and i need to manually start it or even sometimes i need to restart the complete system.

is this link state up/down and unbound restart a wanted behaviour?
is it possible to deactivate the link state change?
can't the interface be all the time up?
so unbound does not need to restart all the time?

maybe someone can help me to understand the problem better and configure the system correctly

Hi Rob,

Unbound doesn't restart if you don't select interfaces in its settings. Is that the case and if so why?

i think i don't understand your question correctly

in unbound under general i have set Network Interfaces to "all(recommended)", and there i can only select a interface manually or when nothing is selected, the all setting is active

when i set it for example to "wan" only, unbound is not restarting when i connect something to the other network ports

as far as i understand this setting, with "all" unbound should work for all interfaces as the dns server, that's what i want. i think so or am i wrong?
when i don't select "all", than the other Networks are using what dns instead?
