NTP client-only mode for OPNsense?

Hi,

Is it possible for OPNsense to sync to a local NTP server but not necessarily serve time to the network as NTPd normally does? I was hoping there may be a smaller NTP client-only daemon.

Or are we limited to running NTPd to sync the clock and then locking it down with the Firewall?

Thanks.

Hi,

There is an old ticket, but as long as people keep arguing there are more important priorities that should be worked on this will be pushed back again unless someone steps in to contribute.

Hello eponymous,
The chrony plugin works beautifully as a low drama NTP client. Just leave the listen interfaces blank and it won't try to act as a server.

I've attached my example which uses cloudflare and Secure Time but you could just as easily specify a host on your network.

It looks like 21.7 now has an NTPD Client only mode :)

No feedback on this so far... so it seems to be working? ;)
