Hi, I have a DEC-850 on backorder, and have some questions about the appliance,

What make/model memory modules is it provisioned with? Is it 2x8GB modules, or it is 1x16GB?

Is the included memory RDIMM ECC?

Will Deciso be able to upgrade the memory configuration to 2x16GB modules for me?

What make/model 256GB SSD is provisioned?

I am interested in installing onto a ZFS boot mirror, and would like to obtain a second identical SSD. Is this something Deciso could sell to me and install for me?

Do the M.2 slots support NVMe?

What types of types/makes/models of SFP+ does the DEC-850 work with?

Thanks in advance!

I'm curious about the answers to some of your questions as well. However, I do know the DEC800 and DEC3000 series are based on their new A20 board and according to the following link, one M.2 slot supports both PCIe (NVMe) & SATA and the other is PCIe (NVMe) only.

As for the SFP modules, it would. seem it supports both 1Gb and 10Gb modules, according to a little digging I did which I detailed in the last post on this thread:

Deciso was unable to add a second SSD or upgrade the memory for me. Understandable. What threw me was when they noted that I would void the warranty by opening the case when I went to upgrade those components myself.

Did they give you any details regarding supported SFP modules?

Hi,

More or less relevant tweet: https://twitter.com/opnsense/status/1385164577533534209

If you have specific wishes for the order it's best to contact sales@deciso.com -- I heard that it's possible to carry out special requirements.

Cheers,
Franco

I went in a different direction. Pity, I really liked the DEC-850, and wanted to support OPNsense. I still will.

FYI. I emailed "sales@deciso.com" with regard to SFP modules and got this response:

We tested some modules/Direct Attached cables:

Transceivers/modules:

Cisco: SFP-10G-SR-S / 10-3105-01
FS.com: SFP-10GSR-85
FS.com: SFP-10GLR-31
FS.com: SFP-10GT
Uptime: UP-TR-SR-CI

DA kabels:

J9281B                                 : Aruba or HPE ProCurve 10-GbE SFP+ 1m Cable
37-0960-03                         : Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU1M
AXC761-10000S                : Netgear

We tested the 10G Ethernet modules from FS and confirm they support 1, 5 and 10Gb ethernet. 2.5G seems not supported (yet).
