Routing without upstream gateway

**** Noob alert****
I have a bit of a unique setup and need some help. I apologize if this topic has been covered but I cant find it if it has. My setup is as follows
WAN - this is a point to point link provided by my ISP. My side is 172.20.20.1/30 and the peer is 172.20.20.2/30
LAN - 192.168.48.1/24
I am able to ping 172.20.20.2 (peer) from by WAN interface no problem.
I am able to ping 172.20.20.1 (my wan IP) from both WAN and LAN
The problem I have is that I cannot ping 172.20.20.2 (peer) from the LAN. I am guessing this is a routing issue but I am not sure how to resolve the same. I have tried a few things but without success. I am hoping there is someone out there to tell me I have missed something simple.
I have got an any out firewall rule from the LAN.
