20.7 Upgrade Path

Hello,

I'm sure this is a very silly question but I can't seem to find a definitive answer...

I am running 20.1.7-i386 on a Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU J3060 @ 1.60GHz (2 cores) box.

To upgrade to 20.7 and move to the AMD64 releases, what path do I take?

Upgrade to 20.1.9 then straight to AMD64 20.7? Or do I need to do a new install and restore my config?

Hi simpic,

Not a silly question at all.

Early into the project it was possible to move from amd64 to i386 and back but the workaround to enable this (switching the shutdown binary) went away with new upgrade procedures and its need was also dwindling.

That means this is no longer supported. The best way forward, however, is using a 20.7 installer to import your old configuration and reinstall in-place which keeps your configured settings.
