Hi,

I am new with OpenSense!
Previously I used to run PFsense on Alix PCengine and when I wanted to switch it off, I just cut the power off.
Now I am running OpenSense Serial install on APU2 pcEngine and my question is: is it OK  to turn it off just like that?
My concern is the software issue.

Thanks for your help.

This is how I do it. Depending on your hardware, you additionally might have to turn off the power physically like unplug a power supply from your OPNsense appliance or flick a switch. If there's a better way, I'm all ears.

Thanks for your answer but my question was more like, usually you don't pull the plug of any system because it writes data on the disk except when its an embedded system which I had before.

But now I'm not sure by pulling the plug is any longer a good idea!
Personally I want to pull the plug, because its simply faster  ;D

Pulling the plug can disintegrate your file system. If you are prepared for it (backups, new disks/cards) then do it. If you can avoid it better use the shutdown feature. You can also shut down via API command AFAIK.

Cheers,
Franco

Ok, thank you for your answers.
So I'll stick with the embedded installation.

Regards.
