I am new to OPNSENSE, looking to install. PFSENSE doesn't match MAC address well between IPV4 and IPV6 addresses.
Does OPNSENSE do it an better

How and why does a MAC address match to IPv4 or IPv6 address?

I think you want to assign static dhcp leases? Ipv6 uses DUID instead of mac address as identifier. Windows generates DUID one time on installation. The DUID remains constant even if the network card is swapped later.
In multiboot environments, each os has its own DUID.
A DUID will always look different than a mac address.
