IPV6 Gateway Address FE80::217:10FF:FE95:8A97
The opnsense is latest release on a computer between Spectrum and switch set at factory defaults.
I plug modem to motherboard nic which is em0. i have a 4 port nic card in computer and plug switch into last port igb3.
I go to option 1 and try auto find for wan and lan. it cannot find anything so i put em0 for wan and igb3 for lan.
I can ping things from inside lan but cannot get out to internet.
i go to option 2 and set lan for ipv4 and dhcp
everything internal is on 192.168.1.x
Please help me understand what i am doing wrong.
Thank you.

given information above i also tried:
option 2, set WAN
said not to use dhcp
pointed ip to 70.63.227.238
used bit count of 22 which should be subnet mask of 255.255.255.252
set gateway to 70.63.227.237
lan set to dhcp
still no access to internet

You possibly have the WAN interface set to block RFC 1918 addresses. Even with that set, the Arris does NAT, so you either have to:
- set a static route for your LAN on the Arris
- run double NAT on both Arris and OPNsense
- set the Arris in bridge mode and make the ISP connection on OPNsense
I use the last option since it is by far the simplest (single pane of glass)
