I was concerned that reports from within opnsense where not picked up because you don't see anything back.

The process is largely automated and very noisy so there's not much feedback we can provide other than fixing reported issues.

This used to be different where we would mail users with varying degrees of success, but with thousands of crash reports to go through things needed to change internally.

I understand completely, but maybe because I have not read it or found it. What would be the best option to report on bugs for let's say that the GEOIP is not renewing?

There's always https://github.com/opnsense/core/issues/new/choose which is way better for discussing / troubleshooting
