Hello all,

For those of you in the US happy Labor Day!

I am ab out to change out my Intel I350-T4 with an Intel X550-T2. I selected the X550-T2 because it does multiple speeds, including 2.5 and 5 gig. This is my first step into the world of faster than gig. I am setting up my home network to be 2.5 gig to all devices, with a network backbone of 10 gig. I saw some issues with OPNsense and the X550-T2, but this was a couple years back. Does anyone have experience with OPNsense and the X550-T2? Is it a stable network card to use?

Thanks,
Steve

No problems here. The usual: Newer firmware (NVM) is usually better, and check temperatures in a low-airflow environment (vs. i350).

Thanks for the feedback. I am putting this into a Lenovo M720q, so yes the temps might be good to check.

The X550 has firmware similar to the I350? I did not know that. I will go look on the Intel site for the latest firmware and drivers.

The latest is available from the Intel 30.4 download bundle. Their latest for x550 is from Oct 23 2024.
