Setup Help - Proxmox server, 1 FritzBox and 1 eth cable

Hi,
I wanna set up opnsense so that it replaces my fritzbox. the fritzbox should work as a switch/access point only. The fritzbox is connected to the wall and connects everything in the house atm. opensense is running as a vm on a proxmox server. the idea is that opnsense receives the public ip instead of fritzbox. i only have 1 cable from the server to the fritzbox. How can i do that without being hunted for breaking the internet ? 😅

It depends on the connection type you have. If is a type that OPN can do itself (see them in WAN configuration type for the interface), then just need to decide on an ip address in your lan scope, give it to the linux bridge in Proxmox and add to that bridge the single interface in your host. Note that it requires reboot and you will be unable to reach it until your OPN is up and dishing out DHCP leases in the same scope.
If it is a a type that requires a modem, that's a different way. I don't use one but I've seen posts on how to make it work and be able to reach the modem.
