OpenVPN won't reconnect until manually disable/enable gateway

Hi all,
OPNsense 22.1.1_3-amd64
FreeBSD 13.0-STABLE
I have an OpenVPN client that works fine until I restart the connection under 'VPN > OpenVPN > Connection Status'. The connection won't come back up until I manually disable then enable the gateway for that interface under 'System > Gateways > Single'.
Error in OpenVPN logs: 'write UDP: No route to host (code=65)'
I can see under System > Routes > Status the automatically created routes disappear when the connection goes down. However they don't appear to be re-adding themselves automatically. They do reappear when I disable/enable the gateway as above.
Does anyone know what's going on here? Any advice appreciated.

The problem "write UDPv4: No route to host (code=65)" most likely indicates that your VPN connection has failed. The quickest solution is to contact your VPN provider and request that they inspect their server-side logs to see what they indicate is going on.
