Backup My OPNsense VM

Hello all,
I have implemented my OPNsense VM on an ESXi hypervisor running 8.0U1. I am trying to use my Synology NAS to backup the vm. Doing this causes a failure in the backup, as it says:
Error,Failed to take a snapshot of the VM OPNsense Firewall. ,2023-05-30 13:58:08
Error,Error message from the hypervisor [192.168.1.5]: [The operation is not allowed in the current state.],2023-05-30 13:58:16
It looks like it cannot take a snapshot backup of the vm?
Thanks,
Steve

This is not OPNsense specific but some ESXi issue. Did you perhaps use PCIe passthrough for network interfaces? ESXi does not support snapshots for running VMs using that feature. You need to shut down the VM, take a snapshot, boot again.

Yes I have passed through the network interfaces. Going to have to see how I want to implement a shutdown to get this done. Its not as simple as just just it down and back it up.
