Failing to set up wireguard client

Hi,
new user of opnsense and trying to get wireguard client working. I already got the wireguard server for remote access and it works with no problems.
I'm using mullvad as my vpn provider and I followed the instructions here:
https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/wireguard-client-mullvad.html
. I encountered no problems during installation and the client is able to get successful handshake but the router is not letting the traffic through.
I have done the NAT outbound rules as instructed and in desperation I've allowerd all the traffic in and out from both interfaces, wireguard and VPNClient (opt2) in my case. but nothing gets through. I have also disabled my wireguard server for the time of testing but no affect. What am I missing?
Also I'm running this firewall virtualised on proxmox. On the host firewall is disabled both on the system and network bridges. Installed using these instructions
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/recipes/virtualize-proxmox.html

It seems it actually does work. It is just so excruciatingly slow I though I have no internet. But this is unusable.
