Hi!

I have an OPNsense virtualized over Xenserver. The physical interface is connected to the switch over a trunk port that permits all the VLANs.

I need multiple LAN (11) interfaces and two Wan interfaces on OPNsense. I'm able to add and map all the interfaces on the guest through the xen CLI interface. OPNsense recognizes all the interfaces, but I'm only able to add/enable 7 interfaces. It is possible to add more then 7 logical interfaces, each attached to one VLAN? How can I achieve that?

Thank you in advance!

Regards,
Augusto

Hi there,

Is this a Xen question or a OPNsense question? Where is the 7 device restriction?

Cheers,
Franco

Hi Franco!

Thank you for your reply!

It was an OPNsense question, but I was not aware of the Xen limits. As the interfaces are appearing to OPNsense, I though that I was miss configuring something. Despite I'm able to add more that 7 interfaces on Xen, Xen limits to only seven... I'm going to look to another alternative for free virtualization. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Best regards,
Augusto

It thoroughly depends on your hardware setup for your host system.

If you have a desktop/work pc a virtual box is probably best.

If you have a server with Linux you can use kvm.

if you have a VM server proxmox or esxi are good candidates.

Hi Franco!

Thank you very much for the suggestions!
