PFSense config import?

I only have one firewall, so I can't play around, without my wife filing divorce, but will/does OPNsense support importing PFSense config+RRD backups or some subset of the backups?

Hi HarHar83 well in theory it should be possible to import a running config, you can even test it with the livecd first..
However I would not recommend switching if you are happy with your current setup as things can always go wrong and OPNsense still has more bugs than a 'stable' 2.1.5 release.
If you have time to try things out you can also test it with a virtual machine, that way it is save to test.
Obviously we welcome everybody who is willing to put some effort into the project; even 'just' testing and reporting your findings will helps improving the project in a rapid pace.

I have a report that such a 2.1.5 config does not work well on import, basically rendering the GUI unresponsive. I am looking into this at the moment. Expect some things to change for 15.7 with regard to config handling and import behaviour. If you can help out with configs that do not seem to work send us an email with the anonymised config. Thanks!

Old post, but interesting concept. I would think some of the backup configs could be imported into OPNsense. Like maybe the Interfaces, NAT, and rules configs. But the layout is different so it would be an undertaking, but possible.
Anyone up for the challenge? I would love to see PFsense squirm.

that should be nice as i'm running pfSense for many years
would like to switch to OPNsense but as my config is rather complex i'm holding off for now
hopefully there will be a import option in the near future
