I want a HomeLab and plan to use the following configuration:
The hardware specification this good? What do you think?
CPU: AMD Athlon 5350 APU (Kabini)
MOBO: ASRock AM1H-ITX
HD: 60GB SSD Patriot Inferno
RAM: G.SKILL Sniper 2x4GB DDR3 2133 F3-17000CL11D-8GBSR
NIC: HP NC364T PCIe 4Pt Gigabit Server Adptr
HomeLab for 5 users
- 2 link Cable 50mbs e DSL 50mbs
- 3 VPN site to client
- Proxy, snort, VPN, carp, captive portal

This is a very generous setup. The NIC you chose is supported by the e1000 (em) driver in FreeBSD. Have fun.

Bit of an overkill
The hardware that you chose can easily handle upto 500 users without any issue. Minus the Snort, you are good to go. Current IDS is "Suricata"
