I have a Dec740 that has a device plugged into port 0.   with 2 different cables the led's randomly turn off on the appliance,  and the device gives a pop up message saying network lost.

where can i find logs to troubleshoot this.

couple of Questions:

- "...randomly turn off on the appliance..." Do you mean that when the interface goes down, which device turns off, the DEC740 or the attached device?
- Is this copper cable? What CAT 5/6/7? How long is this cable?
- When did this issue start or is this the 1st time?

you can ssh to the DEC740 drop into the shell and cd to /var/log and look at the messages file and/or others to see what's going on. you can do this in the GUI under System Log files.

the network lights on the Dec actually turn off.  this is 2 different 5 foot cables to my Apple Tv.   i am going to try an actual switch this weekend to see if its the device itself.    its only 2 months old though..

the Tv then shows network disconnected  every 15 seconds or so.

honestly it happened when i installed  26.7 to see how it was.     since then i have gone back to a snapshot of 26.4 but it still occurs
