OpenVPN server, assigning clients IP via DHCP possible?

I want this because Id like to have hostname resolution for openvpn clients with dnsmasq, and i started all my other subnets from .11 so if openvpn did that it would be tidier. What ive tried :

Assigned interface to openvpn server device

Bound dnsmasq to that interfaces

Assigned DHCP range to that interface (I couldnt connect without doing this?)

Set up OpenVPN server served DNS address to DHCP subnet of that interface. (Saying this in a roundabout way because technically i couldnt assign an ip to openvpn interface, trying that results in an error stating i cant do that on openvpn interfaces. Not sure what exactly dnsmasq bound itself to?)

Tried no-pool setting. Resulted in no connectivity, logs about needing ipconfig push. But where and what?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
