yes start with the documentation. Then don't be put off from looking up strange concepts in serious resources like wikipedia and documentation from networking vendors sites like cisco for instance. Be ready to climb quickly from rabbit holes.
And I would avoid youtube videos but that's just me. We all learn differently but many of those are people just showing basics, looking for subscriptions and ad hits. They won't add much to what the documentation gives.
Really what you want is to have a strong networking basic handle. Then OPN screens and options will simply make sense.

I assumed he was already familiar with pfSense.

@James - just install the thing and try it. What could go wrong with a test installation in your private network or a VM?

Not to bully others into how I want this thread to go, but this thread was not meant as a general "how to install OPNsense" question and is not meant to be too technical in nature.

For such comments, those should be in a separate thread. This thread is about the three things in the title and per my OP.

I think people are thoroughly confused as to the reasons why I posted this.
