New gateway deployment won't route

I used to manage pfSense firewalls at my former job, but decided to try OPNsense for my home gateway. I received a Protectli with OPNsense 24.7 installed. I did some minor configuration to establish a couple of wifi networks and familiarize myself with the interface. I like it, but I cannot get the traffic to route from LAN to WAN. Should I expect that it would just work out of the box if WAN gets an IP from my ISP?

I know this seems very basic, but I cannot figure out how to get traffic to exit the WAN. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what Protectli ships out of the box but a default install of OPN should route.
WAN should be set to get IP via DHCP and allow anything out.
LAN is allowing anything in by default as well.

I'd head to Interfaces > Diagnostics for the basics.

This was not an OPNsense issue. The ISP had to release the DHCP lease.

Some ISPs give 2 IPs per customer for router replacement use cases, but it clearly is not universal (maybe even common).
If you only get 1, you have to release it manually (when the old router offers that option) or clone MAC and or client ID on the new router (again when available).
Otherwise, you're left with a call to customer support or waiting for lease expiry...
