OPNSense unstable when powering device on port w/ CARP setup

OPNSense newbie here, just setup a HA pair of OPNSense devices with CARP on both WAN and LAN ports. My problem is that I am powering my device using PoE++ (60W) and as soon as I setup CARP on the LAN port everything goes haywire (i.e one or both devices will power off). If I also power the device with ordinary DC everything works ok. If I only turn on one of the devices everything works ok (w/ CARP configured)
- Can someone verify my suspicion that CARP will do things to a ethernet port (reset, cycle on/off) that makes it ill suitable to power the whole device on this port
- Any ideas on how to configure this so my situation improves?
