No network interfaces are assigned

I just installed OPNsense 24.7. I installed it with just the working LAN port plugged in. However, after re-boot I see “No network interfaces are assigned” ( see picture).

So I thought maybe I need to plug a working WAN and LAN in to make them auto assign. So I plugged them in and rebooted. It ended up at the same screen. How do I get OPNsense to auto see the WAN and LAN ports so I have the DHCP IP address to log into with a browser and complete my setup !  Thanks!

Is this on the same machine?
Did you figure out what kind of NICs you have?
Because it sure looks like you have issues getting them to be recognized by the base OS...
I'd be weary of running my main router on such hardware.

Yes it was me. However, the PC supports Linux and can be bought with Linux or Win 11.

Please Point me to a cheaper mini that will be 100% compatible with OPSense 2.7 and still do the job

It is not too modern, it is Realtek, they are known to be flaky on FreeBSD and thus, OpnSense. I already told you.

The cheapness probably stems from the fact that sub-par hardware is being used. Also: cheaper than what? You did not tell yet what brand and model this is.

Per reply #3 in the other thread, Realtek appears to be bothersome with FreeBSD (in general).

Whoever posted this has been at this for way longer than me...
He (see details in his signature) and I have been using mini-PC with I225 or I226 without issues on the networking side.
Personally I have N100+4xI225+mSATA+SATA and N305+4xI226+NVME@x4+NVME@x1 no name PCs off Amazon (little to no documentation, so I'm not really recommending anything in particular).
I might actually get something from protectli at some point.
I have 2 drives because I run proxmox with OPNsense virtualized. I don't know that you'd get much benefit of a second drive with OPNsense baremetal.
