Hi new to OPNsense.  I just downloaded thr DVD ISO and attempting to do a new install.  I underdstand your must load the live portion of the DVD and do a hard disk install from the live.  I dont see an insdtall optyion from the ISO DVD boot?  im trying to install on a lovcal computer.  Each timre i reboot the same thuing occurs no install option.  How do I install fgrom the DVD ISO?  do I have the wrong download?  OPNsense-24.7-dvd-amd64.iso

Any help would be appreciated.  Im Use to loading a dvd iso and i stalling directing to the hard drive.  Thanks in advance.

The important part for you right now is this:
"After preparing the installation media, we need to make sure we can access the console (either via keyboard and [virtual]monitor or serial connectivity). Next we need to know how to access the boot menu or the system bios (UEFI) to boot from the installation media. Most times will be a function (F#), Del, or ESC key that needs to pressed immediately after powering on (or rebooting) the system. Usually within the first 2 to 3 seconds from powering up."
So right now you are "too late" and the option to install or load live has gone and you find yourself in live mode.
You need to reboot and get in time to select install _instead_ of booting to live media.

@cookiemonster not quite correct. You boot into live mode and log in at the console with user "installer" and password "opnsense" just as documented.

*snap* Herr Hausen. I stand corrected despite seemingly we're both correct.
A few paragraphs about the one you correctly point out is the one I was recalling:
Installation Instructions

Install Instructions

OPNsense installation boot process allows us to run several optional configuration steps. The boot process was designed to always boot into the live environment, allowing us to access the GUI or even SSH directly. If a timeout was missed, restart the boot procedure.

We're spoilt for choices :)
