I'm all out of options. If I can't get an answer here, I'm just going back to pfsense.

My problem is that after a fresh install of Opnsense, no matter how I configure the interface devices, I cannot access the WebGUI.

I have tried DHCP, static, bare interface, lagg interface, DHCP6 enabled/disabled, nothing gives me a connection to the WebGUI. I have figured out how to obtain an I.P. address on the machine connected to the LAN port but it still won't allow any down traffic.

There are 10 interfaces on my box, ix0-3 and igb0-5. I am only using igb0 and igb1 to lower complications until I can get a connection to WebGUI.

hi

out of the box, the opnsense is configured to use 192.168.1.1 on it's lan interface.
I am presuming that you have already configured the Opnsense via the console /Txt UI when it's booted up ?

When you connect the opnsense server to a monitor, and kbd, the console UI will tell you that.

You may have to configure a static IP on your laptop as, 192.168.1.10 with a 24bit mask (255.255.255.0).

You should have a network cable plugged in between your laptop and the opnsense box. Try pinging the default opnsense IP. then browse to the UI via that ip.

Also, each time you connect a network cable into the opnsense box, the console/txt ui (HDMI/VGA) will show a link up detect on the host telling you that.

You may have also connected your laptop & Opnsense box into a network switch - ?

it should work.

hope that helps

Add a firewall rule (ACL) "to pass all" traffic for each interface you want to assign an IP.  By default, only the LAN interface has a permissive rule to allow all traffic.
