Hello everyone,
Noob here. I’ve been learning for a couple months and pickup rather quickly but inevitably I knew I’d come to a roadblock. Long story short I installed Opnsense onto my 126gb USB and the program auto boots but I can’t do anything else and I can’t even use my computer. It boots into live mode as soon as I turn on my computer, and it won’t even let me login to root or installer because it says password isn’t right but it is because it’s the default. Do I need to buy a new computer now lol? Or is there a way to fix this? Or do I have to get a new computer and some hardware so that the old laptop and hardware can be used to finish the configuration and get to the web gui? I’ve been trying to fix this with research for like 5 days. I’m honestly prepared to buy a new laptop and take my L for trying to run before I could walk by installing a firewal.any advice is welcome and I’ll answer any questions to the best of my ability. Wish I could just delete the entire laptop and usb to just start over

What are you trying to do? When you boot OPNsense on a computer you turn that computer into a hardware firewall. You cannot use it for anything else but connect it to a network and use it as a firewall.
A laptop is not very well suited to be used for that. You should get a dedicated small energy efficient machine like an APU, IPU or Protectli device.

Thank you so much for the clarification and that honestly solves all the wonders as to why it wasn’t working. I’ll get some hardware
