Abysmally low upload speed

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well. I've built a firewall as a gift for a friend, a classic Fujitsu Futro S920 thin client + Intel I350-T2 combo, and did a fresh OPNsense install. I wanted to test it, so I connected between my home network and my workstation (like that: home server with virtualized OPNsense <-> gigabit switch <-> (WAN) firewall (LAN) <-> workstation). I've left all settings untouched, except:
- Set a static IP for LAN (10.100.1.1/16)
- Enable DHCP on LAN (10.100.100.1 - 10.100.199.254)
- Set WAN to DHCP

I then tested it against an OpenSpeedTest instance in my home network. Download is 100% fine, giving full gigabit speed. The upload, however, starts at mere 10 Mbps for a second, and then gradually drops to 200 Kbps.

I then decided to test it using iperf3 on my home network. Download is okay at around 860 Mbps, but the upload basically fails every time. It uploads around 500 KBytes, then stops working entirely at 0 Bps.

After that, I've installed iperf3 directly onto the firewall and started testing using that. I get only around 600 Mbps both ways between the workstation and the firewall. Between my home server and the firewall, it downloads at around the same 600 Mbps, but during upload I again get around 200 KBytes and nothing at all after that.

Both OpenSpeedTest and iperf3 run perfectly without the firewall in between, delivering full gigabit speed both ways. All cables involved are 100% confirmed good.

Weirdly enough, I also tested using speedtest.net through my 100/40 connection, and got all of it normally. So clearly, something is wrong with my testing setup, or firewall configuration, or both.

I also booted Arch on the firewall and tested both ports using iperf3, full gigabit both ways on both ports. It's 100% a software issue.

I'd like to do a speed test within my local network, since the person getting this firewall has a 1000/200 connection, and I want to see whether the firewall is able to do these speeds. Could someone help me out? Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
