lost after a reboot

Hi
I'm running opnsense on VMWare, last update, and after a reboot it has stopped responding.
From the console ttyv0 if I insert right login and password (if they are wrong I have an other message), OPNSense responds "this account is currently not available" and go back to login request.
More strange: the reboot was two days ago. So I restored previous backups, until oldest from 09/03 (the unit has worked well until 09/13). After every restore the unit has the same problem!
How can I recover it? What can be the cause?
thanks

So, I started a new opnsense installing it from scratch. Then I restored the full backup of my blocked system. After that, also the new one does not allow me to access from the console.

no
the only way I solved is:
- start a new opnsense
- restore backup WITHOUT reboot
- change the option to disable password protection from console
- reboot
after that, from console I found that WAN interface was assigned to the wrong physical interface! Fixing it, I was able to work.
The big question is how and why this problem can exist.
