Laptop - turn off screen?

I'm running OPNsense on an old Dell laptop. Works great, love it. Is there a way to power off the laptop screen?
I previously had OPNsense on an older Dell laptop, and the screen would automatically blank when the lid was closed. It died and I switched to my current, somewhat less old Dell laptop. Now the screen stays powered on, 24/7, whether the lid is open or closed. I'd like it to shut off automatically, for both heat and energy consumption reasons. Is there something I can do in OPNsense, or in the underlying FreeBSD, to shut off the monitor?

Anything in the BIOS/UEFI settings?
You may want to share the model number if you want to hear from users with the same laptop

It's a Dell Studio 1737
No power/lid switch options in BIOS as far as I can tell.

Try with a vanilla install of FreeBSD 13.1 but it's not a very common model so support may be limited.
You could open it up and disconnect the ribbon cable going to the screen but that may cause boot problems and you may not get video from its VGA and/or HDMI outputs.
