Is there no way to install the PPTP server anymore?  I know, I know, but it would be really helpful for backwards compatibility while I transition clients to a more modern setup.

Eh, just as well.  They can't resist the 21st century any longer....

But, they just decide for users.
Just like apple company.

Basically it was last straw, so for the backward compatibility for some places we just moved to other vendor products.
At least now we can decide whether or not to move between protocols in our circumstances.

Don't bother with with PPTP setup, just open your network unrestricted unencrypted to internet, because this is exactly what old insecure protocol like PPTP does. :/

Generic vendor is happy about your choice in legacy appliances which are already being discontinued and last about as long as the hardware they came with.

Truth be told the user base for these plugins was roughly estimated at 0,05% of all users and none of these are customers caring to cultivate the code in the form of sponsoring or support cases. Eventual disapprovals of removal reasons are what makes this so ironic to being with.  :)

Just move on and find whatever works for your use cause and support who you want to support for the value you can afford.

Cheers,
