Login Incorrect

I am at my wit's end here. I have been trying to install OPNsense v21.7 with USB (clean and works/boots perfectly every time), vga version, and absolutely no issues getting to login prompt.

When I use attempt to login with user: installer and password: opnsense, I receive an "Login incorrect" message. I have also tried user: root and password: opnsense.

Troubleshooting steps:
1. System clock > set to current time
2. Maybe ISO was botched > downloaded and installed again
3. SSH and web interface > Login incorrect.
4. Tested keyboard input > correct input
5. Check CapsLock > off
6. USB ports on mini PC > tried each one--all boot ISO as expected

Always the same frustratingly, BS result: "Login incorrect."

Am I missing something?? HALP!  :'(

have you changed the password in the GUI after loading from the USB? If so then use that password.
