I've just implemented the basic shaping rules mentioned on the wiki to share bandwidth evenly.

The Upload rules helped me clean up bufferbloat very well (tested via DSLReports). I seem to be able to max the upload pipe from my wired PC.

The Download rules seem to have halved my speeds (almost exactly) on DSLReports. Via my wired PC that has pulled the full connection prior to the rules.

When I bumped up my Download pipe and tested again my speed went up, again about half the pipe given.

Wondering is this because the rules are preserving half the connection for other users to "share evenly"?

Thanks all,
-Ben

Extra data:

Due to this being cable I can't confirm if bandwidth has drooped. but the first test pictured was about 10 minutes before the Download shaping rules were set. I've been running the Upload rules for days.

Box is Intel i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 cores), very low CPU usage. 8GB ram.

Changed to CoDel.

Slightly faster now than before.

I will try to disable shaping and see what the speed from my provider right now.

After disabling Rules, Queues and Pipes, saving and applying...

I am seeing roughly similar speeds with and without.

Possibly but service was lagging just while testing?

Will try to confirm.

Better reboot after disabling, or reset couple of tes
