Configuration backup and restore question

If I restore a configuration to the same hardware on freshly installed OS, given I have already installed all previously installed plugins, same or close to the same OS version, will it restore VLANs, Aliases, Firewall rules etc to prior running state?

It should. On major version updates there might be problems that you may have to manually update the interface names but that happened only once so far due to a driver change.

Can the same configuration be used on a different set of hardware/pc staying very close to the original software version?

You cay have to modify the interface section as well. Especially keep in mind that the ordering may change. Also be careful with features like wlan because the system is very picky regarding drivers.
