Hi,
trying to setup my opnsense as a wifi client to add a failover wan interface. My wifi card is detected (ral0_wlan1) but opnsense only propose me to choose between ad hoc, infrastructure or AP mode. Don't know how to choose a client mode  ???.
Can you please help me ?

You were able to configure the ral0 device as a wireless interface, because I have the same problem and apparently opnsense won't let you configure as wifi

Hi,
i also tried to setup OPNsense as wifi client.
I found this for pfsense: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/book/wireless/wireless-wan.html

But i don't get it to work on OPNsense right now. I can see the wireless networks (ssid) in my neighbourhood into OPNsense gui. But how i geht teh connection to my favorite wifi network!?

best regards
Dirk

Assing the wifi to WAN, go to the WAN Interface, choose your SSID and enter the password. Working here for years... :-)

I only get a connection into a open wifi network. :( As soon as i enable encryption at the AP i can't get a connection anymore. It is equal if the encryption set to WPA or WPA2.

Might be worth mentioning that you try that on an inofficial Raspi 3 ARM image

Yes, you're right!  ::)
I'll do the same with x86 hw and supported image until the next days. I'll use the same ralink wifi stick for testing. We'll see if this a problem of the arm image.
