Hello
on the WLAN Part
it is possible to define a SSID with a give VLAN and IP Range.
i think to use WLAN for normal use,
but also to use a WLAN SSID for Homeautomation like Sonoff Product, so if they could be in their own playyard would be nice.
have a nice day

Have a look at ubiquiti access points. They allow four SSID's with a VLAN each.

Hi,

Yes, you need a VLAN capable Access Point like Ubiquiti or TP-Link Omada Series. If you have a switch inbetween the switch needs also to be VLAN capable.

it's also my usecase at home, for separate wifi for kids, using ubiquiti ap ac lr an ubiquity pa ac lite. both work well. As controller, i use a ubuntu lxc-container, not the cloud-thingy.

with this, my kids have to stop youtubing, instagramming, gaming and snapchatting ab 2030 ;)

You can also install the unifi controller on OPNsense although it is not a plugin: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=5469.0

It is possible, but definitely recommended to use an external Access point.
You are more flexible and the performance is better

I can recommend to use OpenWRT.
In my setups i use it with Management-VLAN and each SSID with different VLANs. And 802.11r for Roaming between 2,4 and 5 GHz Networks.
Hardware-Recommendation: Archer-C6.
In you Need Central Management for that: OpenWISP.
