Well, it's a good thing my wife and I are the only "users." Neither one of us cares about traffic coming from outlook.com and Micro$platt seems uninterested in doing anything about their spammers. Ergo, I've dumped 'outlook.com' into our local deny list.

Problem solved, for now.

meyerguru -- FYI, I've been doing computing and networking since 1976, and pushing electrons around since my age was in single digits. The only thing my question showed was a lack of knowledge about one specific area of how domain names obviously work. If all you're going to do is make wild assumptions about someone's background, and get snooty about how OPNSense is a "pro tool," please keep your advice to yourself.

Thank you to those who made useful replies. I have my answer.

General Discussion / Wildcards in domain names: Possible?
February 27, 2026, 07:19:32 AM
Good day,

Ver. 26.1-2, using a couple of custom anti-spam blocklists including one for FQDN.

What I want to do is block all traffic coming from any domain ending in *.outbound.protection.outlook.com (wildcard shown as an example). Unfortunately, I can't find a way to apply a wildcard as shown.

Is there a way to do this which doesn't require a Masters in network engineering?

Suggestions welcome. Thanks much!
