I can't believe that our of 70 view to a basic question, no one can offer any type of advise.

Hello, I got my first mini PC in hand.  Got my ATT in ip passthrough to my mini pc.  From there I got it talking to my home router.  So far so good, but just hold on a minute I'm not done yet.  I following 2 not 3 but 2 ways of setting up the Transparent Bridge.  The first one is from opnsense docs and the second is from dave on Transparnet bridge.  Yes, I completely understand that I need to have a working knowledge in networking but not required.  So I have a little to be bad.  My first question is when you install opnsense and see the igc 0 and 1, they show me what is igc 0 and igc 1.  On igc0 (WAN) it's my public IP address and on igc 1 (LAN) it shows me the ip address to opnsense dashboard.  When I see the dashboard tho, it shows 2 spots that state WAN () AND WAN (ACTIVE) which has a strange ip address. What is this strange IP address?  SIDE NOTE:  I want opnsense security part and not the router part, as I love my home router to much.
Thank you
P.S.  There are more questions, but I'm taking step by step on this as I've tried to get this working about 10 times of which 1 time I got it update itself and then locked up on me, and the other 9 times, nothing.

I think you misunderstood me when I was talking about a NAS.  The files the opnsense makes/has I would like to send those to my NAS.

I hear and obey your command.  Next question.  I will only have 2TB of storage on my mini pc.  If I stick with just the basic opnsense(clam AV) what other one (plug in) would you add?  The reason why I bring up the storage is because I would like to have the mini pc become part of my lan in the sense that I can write files back and fourth from my windows pc to my mini pc and back again, as my NAS has 3TB.  Is this possible?  If so, how do I do this part now.

@Patrick M. Hausen - I thank you for your info and plan to follow the doc's that you gave me.  However, look at step #6.  The title is "Disable the DHCP server on LAN".  So what do I do here?  Click the box Enable DHCP server on LAN interface or not?  Here is what my router currently looks like.  My Mini PC is coming today :)

I'm a newbie by the word.  I'm sorry I don't understand what Layer2 Firewall means.  This is what I would like to happen as I didn't pay $400 for a ASUS router (BE-86u).  I have a ATT gateway that brings in the 1GP fiber into my house which is currently setup in IP Passthrough to my ASUS router.  Today, I get my mini PC and want to solely put opnsense on it for the firewall only.  No router functions, just firewall, as my ASUS router will do all the DHCP.  So (as they say on TV) "how do you do that?
Thanks

You know I posted this question back in May, I started to watch another video of this, and I'm now ready.  Things have changed, and therefore, I need to know this.  Okay so I have a cable coming in from the street connected to my AT&T router.  Then it's connected to my router and my router hands out all the stuff it's suppose to do.  So do I put a cable from my AT&T router to my PC that is running open sense and then to my router or just forget the router?
Thanks

Okay, I'm completely lost when it comes to this stuff.  So please bear with me as I ask my questions.  My setup is as follows:  1GB fiber coming into my ATT Gateway (320-500).  From the ATT Gateway, I have it in IP Passthrough mode to my ASUS RT-88U Pro.  Now here's comes the fun part.  I would like to use my raspberry PI4 for OPNsense.  So how would I wire this up?  Can it even be done?  What is the best way of doing this?
Thanks

Hello everyone and thank you for letting me join.  I have several questions about this software, what it can be run on, and setup.  Yes, I've done my research on it, but still unsure about if it will help me out.  My current set up is as follows:  My Gateway is an ATT BG320-500, which I would have to give it a 5 out of 10.  It's better than the BGW290 that I had before.
Yes, I do have fibre Opc (1GB) and love it.  Then I have a switch that goes to my barn, my office (which has my full time PC) and 2 Raspberry Pi's 4, and then to my Smart TV and finally I have an NVR.  Then going out to my barn, I have a varies of camera's (33 of them) as I live on 6 acres of a horse farm.  My office CP is an I9, with lots of power, so I'm not going to go into that.  About 1 month ago, I put my ATT Gateway into IP Passthrough as I wanted a router that could handle at least 50 connections.  Well, the Netgear router that I purchase (RS300), did the trick and I was happy as a lark until last week.  I walked into my office and nothing worked.  I called ATT and they put me in the right direction, but they offer the wrong stuff.  They said I had my Gateway and router to close to each other.  But that wasn't the problem, as I called Netgear and explain everything to them, and came to find out that their new policy is any router that they sell, is it comes with a security patch, that a trial patch.  So either I give them $300 for 6 months or $500 for a life time, and I said no thank you, and hung up.
Their software that came with it had something that I really enjoy and actually feel safe being on line now.  It was called "Netgear Armour" or the other name was "Bitdefender".  I wanted something that would block and scan at the router level and not the computer level.  I chose Bitdefender because of the VPN and the ad blocking.  So after I sent the Negear router back, I purchase Bitdefender myself, but I'm not feeling to happy now.  Why?  Because bitdefender was also inside the router and not loaded on every computer on my network.  So now this is where OPNsense comes in as I'm sort of understanding it, but still have a ton of questions.  Questions, like, I know a Raspberry Pi will run it, but it's slow as it only has one port.  So the new computer that I will be getting is an mini PC, but not sure what kind would work.  Then this mini PC should have wifi because of all the devices I have connected to Wifi now (camera's, wife's PC, tablet, phones).  So this is where I"m lost and now I need some help in getting the right stuff for my network.
I also noticed that I have 3 IP address in my table that I have no clue where they are found on the BG 320-500.  Can't figure out how to delete them and block them for life.  I'm sure OPNSense can do this.  So is anyone right to help out a newbie?
The first question I have, is what type of hardware do I need?
Thanks.
