The problem is solved.

I still have no idea what the problem was.  But I installed the current version of pfSense to see if the WAN/LAN ports would show, and they did.  I then booted off the newest version of OPNsense, and the WAN/LAN ports were there.  I restored the older config and everything came back.  I wasn't sure if the older config would work, so I was trying to install the older version, restore, and then upgrade.

But everything is working now.

I've been running opnsense 21.7 since feb on a protectli FW4C with no problems.  It runs off the FIOS router into a completely separate network from my FIOS devices.

A few weeks ago, I tried to update to the latest version of opnsense, but the upgrade didn't work.  I couldn't try the update because opnsense reported it was on 24.7 and I'd get pkg errors, but, everything still worked so I left it alone for the time being.

FIOS dropped for a few days and when it came back, nothing in the opnsense network would connect.  WAN/OP!/OP2 ports are blinking amber/orange and LAN is blinking amber/green.

I thought something was borked, so I reinstalled opnsense, and after the reboot, no network interfaces are assigned even though I should be able to connect to the web interface on 192.168.1.1.  When I go to assign the interfaces, I can't.  It says "igc0" or "igc1" is an invalid name.  Auto-detection doesn't work and I can't use the names.

I rebooted off a 21.7 usb key and did a live restoration.  All of the VLANS were there, but the WAN and LAN ports were blank with no IP addresses.  If I try to assign an ip address to either the LAN or WAN, it'll stay blank.  If I try with LAN, it'll  say "done" to all of the steps, but after the "you can now access the web GUI by opening the following URL in your web browser is blank.

I've tried different ethernet cables, switch ports, and even plugging a computer directly into the LAN port.  It's like the WAN/LAN ports are somehow inactive but I've checked the BIOS as well.

I have absolutely no idea what to do next.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
