Virtual private networks / Proxmox, VMs + OPNSense, host to vms connectivity issues
« on: August 10, 2024, 12:16:46 am »
TL;DR: I want to connect from any PC on my home LAN to any other (allowed) machine on a OPNSense managed LAN. However, home network to VM network connectivity does not work. VMs are on a separate, virtualized LAN via OPNsense.
As a first time home server enthusiast, I was trying to create as simple and as secure setup as possible. For remote connectivity, I went with TailScale due to the cool dev community.
I undersand that my question could be solved by TS, however I want to be able to connect my LAN devices without it. My server will not be live until I figure this out.
I do not understand if the problem is in my home router, or if I have to do some addtional setup on the VM OPNsense router. I have tried to allow any possible traffic via the firewall.
Please let me know if I can share any additional details that could be relevant here. Thanks!
