sorry about that, I was trying to say that under LAN the 'Range' is 10.x.x.136 to 10.x.x.254.  Yes, I did set the subnet to 10.x.x.0/24 when I setup Opnsense initially.  I seem to be able to assign Static addresses outside of that range but cannot assign the web gui address outside of that range.

Greetings all,

This is my first post and I'm new to Opnsense coming from a residential setup (3x ASUS routers) for my smart home.  I have Opnsense setup on a Protectli Vault with Proxmox.  I've been able to setup the software pretty easily but have little issues with Web Gui IP Address and Gateway address for my LAN devices.  I'm using the 10.x.x.x nomenclature for a smart home with over 55 devices (NAS, IOT, Surveillance, Audio/Video)...imagine if the creator of Star Trek sold you his house. 

When setting up the LAN in Opnsense, I originally tried making my original/legacy gateway address 10.x.x.3 the same gateway on Opnsense; however it kept setting up the Web Gui with the same address which seemed to interfere also with the LAN address range 10.x.x.1-10.x.x.254 I was using.  To keep the gateway address the same, I trialed and error a solution.   

I've finally arrived at a gateway of 10.x.x.3 and my LAN range being from 10.x.x.136-254.  I'm using the 1-136 addresses statically assigned to devices.  The interesting part is that Opnsense does not allow me access to Web Gui Login to any address I assign outside of the 10.x.x.136-254 range.  E.g. if I assign it to 10.x.x.135.  If I do so, it just doesn't work. 

Please let me know what I may be doing incorrectly or if the web gui address has to be within the range defined for your LAN.  Also, be great to understand how important the gateway address (10.x.x.3) is for the LAN side of things.  I did try without assigning one and some devices worked fine while others did not.
