General Discussion / Asus RT-N66u - Change FW?
« on: July 03, 2024, 09:21:07 pm »
Hi,
I took my first step towards securing my network, the choice was yours or pfsense.
Installed it yesterday... had a few issues, seem resolved now sort of.
Biggest one was DHCP v4 did hand out IPs on wifi but no internet connectivity.
Got that resolved but some stuff seem weird...
Management IP for the OPN box n my Assus router does their own thing.
One of many goals with OPN:
- IP management
- Filtering
- VPN
- PXE
- MS AD connectivity...
Oh well, I digress... at the moment I'm just learning, diy...
The reason for the post...
Would I get any benefits of changing FW on my Asus router to avoid headaches in the future (tomato or something)?
I will upgrade in the future... at the moment I'll use what I have (3xAsus router n old D-Link switch).
Thx
