General Discussion / Opnsense inside Proxmox
June 15, 2024, 02:54:21 PM
Since watching more videos and doing more reading I now have Opnsense running inside Proxmox.

All I want is one port for my LTE modem connected via USB (WAN) and Two RJ45 connectors on a PCI card as (LAN) using Opnsense as my router/firewall and Proxmox running my VM's.

Now I have two other questions and I'm sure they are some stupid mistake I made.
1. I notice that both my WAN and LAN have a 192 ip address.
My LTE modem does use a 192.168.0.1 LAN ip address and I think it has it's own DCHP inside.

2. Two LAN ports on my PCI card are 2.5gb but, they don't show up that way.
Please see the two new file attachments.
Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Hello Again,
I was trying to follow a online YouTube video which suggested the vlan tags.

Thanks for your reply...
I attached what info I could find.

Please Note:
enxaa81173088e9 is my USB LTE modem
enp6s0f0 and enp6s0f1 are two RJ45 ports on a PCI card
enp3s0 is the built in RJ45 on my motherboard (which I'm not using at the moment)

It sounds so easy but it's not.
The internet comes in through my USB LTE modem and goes through Opnsense and passed out the two RJ45's on the PCI card.

Thanks for any help,

General Discussion / Opnsense and Proxmox error
June 05, 2024, 01:18:22 PM
I have Opnsense in a VM in Proxmox.
The VM runs fine WITHOUT any VLAN tags but, I need to enter a VLAN tag and I get a QEMU error exit code 1.
I have tried to enable QEMU in the options tab of the VM and tried to load QEMU into the VM itself which I cant seem to do.
There are other VM's running on my system with QEMU but, they are Debian or Ubuntu VM's.
Any ideas how I can get QEMU into Opnsense so I can add the needed VLAN tags?

Thank You,
