General Discussion / Just got frontier Fiber

Hi all,
So I'm having some network related issues and I think they are related to my Opnsense router firewall hardware.
So When i use a frontier modem they provided I get the full 1Gbps Up and down (despite my connection being 2Gbps Fiber , he left a gig modem just to test it out. (not sure why they wouldn't've give me a 2Gbps modem to use 2Gbps internet but hey ho the one they left was the ARRIS Arris NVG448B which on this site clearly states link speed of !gbps up/down https://setuprouter.com/router/arris/nvg448b/)
Onto my cutstom OPNSense build:
Mobo: ga-h77m-g3h
RAM: 24GB
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770
Network: 2 x SFP+ port Mellanox X-Connect3 NIC's one with a 10Gig Ethernet module which is desiganted as the WAN port and the other as a dedicated SFP+ port which feeds my LAN to my Mikrotik CRS309-1G-8S+IN switch.
No for some reason when hooked up through my OPNSense router on ookla speedtest the max speeds I see are 1000Mbps down and 40 UP which is pathetic for a 2Gig internet line with a 10Gig backbone LAN. I'm convinced its something to do with the custom router hardware at this point and not my switching equipment but I guess my question is: Is my custom box powerful enough to serve this data?
Finally I AM using a cheap PCI-e riser cable from the Gigabyte motherboard to the Mellanox card in the server , but my open sense GUI sees the card as : 10Gbase-SR <full-duplex> So it seems to understand its a 10GIG module.
All the clients (Servers and my desktop PC) all have single SFP+ port Connectx-3 cards and are connected via DAC cables to the Mikrotik Switch.
Thanks in advance writing this early in the morning without having had my coffee.
