General Discussion / LTE Internet Connection using HUAWEI Mobile Wifi Router
« on: May 17, 2023, 12:00:35 pm »
Hi,
due to some Construction Work on the road, i do not have Internet at my new place yet and it will still take some time until I do. I do have a usb lte stick (HUAWEI 3372h-320) and a mobile wifi router (magenta schnellstart - HUWEI -5785-331). They both work about the same (except for a few nice-to-have features and speed) and I've made sure that they both work on my linux pc, they both just show up as an ethernet connection.
I can get the 3372 Stick to work on my OPNSense pretty easily. Just run
However, the 5785-331 is a bit more problematic. I'd like to use this since it's a lot faster and it supports Bridge Mode, so I can get my web services back online. when I connect it, it immediately shows up as ue0, without a modeswitch command needed. Assign an interface, set IPV4 to DHCP, and then nothing. The interface is shown as ethernet autoselect and down, and it only shows DHCP instead of an IP.
Any idea as to how to find out what's wrong and how to get this working?
Greetings,
Jannis

Code: [Select]
usb_modeswitch -v 12d1 -p 1f01 -c /usr/local/share/usb_modeswitch/12d1:1f01
and it will show up as a ue0, assign an interface (e.g. WAN), set IPV4 to DHCP and that's it, get an IP and be online. However, the 5785-331 is a bit more problematic.
