General Discussion / Pihole and Pialert not able to retrieve hostnames from OPNsense
« on: May 05, 2023, 08:44:49 pm »
I have OPNsense running and it seems to be running great.
I first setup Pihole to run via this guide here https://pi-hole.net/blog/2021/09/30/pi-hole-and-opnsense/#page-content and even though it says it may be outdated, it worked. Everything was running fine.
I then enabled unbound and switched that to port 5353 directed traffic from pihole to unbound and now after running for awhile I added Pialert to the mix, however none of the hostnames populated on Pialert, so I reset everything in Pihole to see if it would repopulate there, and now I cant get hostnames to show up in either Pialert or Pihole.
The dnsmasq-hosts and dnsmasq-leases files show the hostnames correctly but nothing in pihole. I tried with and without Advanced DNS options enabled and that did not seem to help at all. I have also tried restarting everything, and that has not worked either.
Any help is appreciated
