25.1, 25.4 Production Series / great dashboard
February 10, 2025, 01:19:40 PM
I was a little behind, but just upgraded to 25.1

I absolutely love the dashboard now.  For me, the most important things are Interfaces, Services, Dynamic DNS and Tailscale and I have all the widgets right there.  I'm sure others have other priorities, but they can choose just like me. It's awesome.

I normally don't care how things look (just make it work), but this really makes it work better.  Everything is right there and it's so easy to check, like after a power outage (did the IP address change?)

Thank you to everyone involved.

General Discussion / weird dns problem (solved)
July 01, 2023, 12:56:08 AM
I don't think this is opnsense related, but just hoping this might make sense to someone here.

My wife works at a VA Hospital and has been working from home at times for the last few years.  She could connect to the work vpn just fine over our home wifi (unifi access points).

Suddenly, it didn't work on her work laptop.  It said it couldn't resolve the va.gov address.  I couldn't ping the address either.  Everything worked on my computer, but I then realized nothing could reach va.gov over wifi.  Not even the webpage.  Other .gov sites were fine.

I checked the AP and the dns was set to 1.1.1.1   I tried changing it to 192.168.0.1 (my opnsense router with unbound) and that fixed it.

The first dns server for unbound is 1.1.1.1

I'm glad it works now, but does that make any sense?

I had to leave, but when I got back, it had finished.

Mine is different (see screenshot), but what should I do if it stays stuck at this point?

Thank you.  That was it.

I had a firewall rule and a NAT from setting up Unbound.

I just started using Opnsense and everything is great so far, except that I would like for a few computers to use custom DNS server settings.

I really like how Unbound is working for everything else, so I would love to have the best of both worlds.

Is there a way for them to bypass Unbound?  Either block them from it, or forward them by their ip addresses?

I just realized I put this in the wrong place, but I don't see a way to delete it?  Am I missing something>
